Conversation between the Interim General Director of TVET-A and the Responsible Person of the "Afren" Organization
Molavi Gholam Haidar Shahamat, the interim general director of the Technical and Vocational Education Authority, met with the responsible person for the French organization "Afren" (French-Afghan Friendship).
During the meeting, they discussed the areas of cooperation between Afren and the Technical and Vocational Education Authority.
Mr. Shahamat first talked about the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority and its achievements. He mentioned that the Authority has 372 educational centers, including institutes and high schools across the country, and these centers have 73 fields, that train labor forces to the job market.
Mr. Shahamat also pointed out that the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority has 16 educational centers for the blind and deaf, where all facilities, including transportation for blind and deaf students, are provided.
He added that due to corruption over the past 20 years, the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority has not been functioning properly. However, in the past two years, the Authority has achieved good results, such as activating Braille printing, printing 500,000 copies of books, revising the threshold, and establishing an innovation center.
Mr. Shahamat further stated that creating a standard institute and adjusting the educational curriculum according to the needs of the job market are parts of this Authority's future plans.
Next, Ms. Pauline Le Pont, the responsible person for Afren, spoke and said that this institute only operates in Afghanistan and works in the field of education. She referred to Afren's past collaborations, such as building the agriculture high school in Bamyan province the Waras district, and holding educational workshops.
The responsible person for Afren also said that this organization plans to launch a project in the agriculture sector. She also emphasized supporting blind and deaf students and providing educational facilities for technical and vocational education centers.
Mr. Shahamat said that it is essential to examine the hearing and vision levels as well as the mental state of blind and deaf students first and then arrange them in separate classes based on their conditions.
The responsible person of Afren also added that this institute intends to follow its previous project plans, such as repairing the waras district agriculture high school building.
Mr. Shahamat assured cooperation with Afren and said that if necessary, relevant authorities should follow up on this matter regarding a cooperation agreement.
