The General Director of Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority discussed with the director of the Narwi Refugee Committee, for collaboration between both sides
The general director of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority, Mowlawi Ghulam Haider Shahamat, met with Tariah Magnussen Watar Daal, the General Director of the Narwi Refugee Committee in Afghanistan. During the meeting, they discussed areas of cooperation between the two institutions, including Agriculture, support for visually and hearing-impaired students, and media support for technical and vocational education.
Mr. Shahamat spoke about the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority, which has a 100-year history and more than 370 educational centers throughout the country. He mentioned that students ranging from first to fourth grade receive technical and vocational training in these centers.
The general directorate of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority mentioned that the institution has 16 special education centers for visually and hearing-impaired students. He said that some facilities, such as transportation, are available to these students.
Mr. Shahamat also stated that the main objectives of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority are poverty alleviation and training skilled labor for the job market.
The head of the Narwi Committee also spoke about the institution and said that the focus of its programs is on education and training, agriculture, and health. He added that in the past, attention was not paid to the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority, but now the Narwi Committee is interested in collaborating with this institution.
Mr. Tariah Magnussen Watar Daal emphasized the importance of technical and vocational education and said it is essential that young people learn skills that society needs, which will contribute to economic growth.
He said he is trying to increase cooperation with the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority and allocate more budget to this institution.
The head of the Narwi Committee mentioned that some young people leave Afghanistan and work under challenging conditions abroad. He said that it is necessary to work together in this area so that young people are not forced to leave Afghanistan.
Mr. Shahamat said that the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority has many common goals with the Narwi Committee, and these two institutions can have close cooperation with each other.
He added that in the past, due to corruption, this institution was not given attention, but in recent years, it has been more successful than other educational institutions.

However, with the actions taken over the past two years, the Authority has gained recognition and has been more successful than other educational institutions.
He also mentioned that more than 30,000 male students have been enrolled in technical and vocational education centers this year alone.
The Authority has taken measures to prevent youth migration, including an agreement with the "Stay in Afghanistan" institution based in Germany to bring new majors that meet the needs of the job market from Germany to Afghanistan to provide education and employment opportunities for young people.
Additionally, the Authority has established an innovation center to support innovative young people and 150 new projects have been registered so far. The creation of the first Afghan sports car that went to the Qatar exhibition is a result of the Authority’s support for creative youths.
The general directorate of the Technical and Vocational Education Authority stated that the Authority plans to build a model institute with international standards in Kabul to upgrade the quality of skilled labor education according to the needs of the job market.
Creating an institute in the wood industry sector in Kunar province is another future plan of the Authority.
He also requested cooperation from the Narwi Refugee Committee to provide health and mental facilities for blind and deaf students in special education centers.
He mentioned that both male and female students attend special education centers, and the Narwi committee can work with these centers without limitations.
The general directorate of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority also requested cooperation from the Narwi committee in creating agricultural farms in agricultural institutes and upgrading the capacity of agricultural instructors.
The Narwi committee chairman stated that there are more opportunities for cooperation between this committee and the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority. He promised serious cooperation in supporting students in special education centers and supporting the media section of the Authority to raise awareness about its importance.
The chairman of the Narwi committee added that the technical teams from both sides should talk to each other to provide practical cooperation opportunities.
In this meeting, Mr. Ghulam Saeed Ehsas, the deputy of technical and vocational affairs, also stated that education should be separate from politics, and help in this area should not be political.
He mentioned that various institutions have promised cooperation, but these promises have been less implemented in practice.
The chairman of the Narwi committee assured that promises of cooperation from this committee will be implemented shortly. He also stated that he will travel to Oslo soon and discuss how to help Afghanistan and attract more cooperation with Narwi officials there.
